Well, this is good news, I won a copy of Bones of the Lost in a Goodreads Giveaway! I just saw the author on the morning news too. I can't wait to get my fresh new copy in the mail, although I have a feeling that I'll be a little preoccupied with a certain wedding and our first trip to South America. I'll definitely write a review though.

I am also eagerly awaiting the results of my Dad's (genealogical) DNA testing. I'm not expecting any major surprises, but you never know.

Almost Famous

Somebody recognized me the other day when I went to get my travel shots. I thought maybe she remembered me from the library where I work, but the girl said no, she never goes to the library. Well, my husband pipes up, she wrote a book... That's it, the girl said to me, you wrote the book about the prison!

Goodreads Giveaway!

I've been having a great time on Goodreads--re-reading some of my old favorites, making new friends, entering Giveaways and today I listed my own free Giveaway! Wish I'd figured out some of this stuff earlier!

Ah, Goodreads

I've been on Goodreads since Dec 2011, but didn't realize my Authors Page was missing. No wonder--the site really is difficult to navigate especially if your Internet provider is somewhat capricious.

Well, my author's profile is finally up and I've also had a lot of  fun rating some of the books I read over the years.

Smashwords

Okay, "From the Chrysalis" is finally available on Smashwords in various formats and it's in the premium catalog! I can't say formatting it was easy, but I certainly learned a lot along the way and it's pretty neat having a linked Table of Contents.

I'm having a lot harder with my family histories. The data is generated by a popular genealogy program called  Family Tree Maker in report format, but it has to be converted in Word document for Smashwords, so it requires an enormous amount of editing.

Revamped Goodreads

Ah, Goodreads. As everybody knows, it was taken over by Amazon a few weeks ago, but I haven't noticed any big difference yet and I check it regularly.

"From the Chrysalis" is still getting reviews and ratings--mostly ratings. Of course I love the four and five star ratings even if the reviewer didn't comment, but the one and two star ratings intrigue me too. Some people actually seem to like leaving low ratings and if you check the average rating they give a book, it's often pretty low. So why are they just reading trash? Beats me! If anybody else has any explanation for that kind of behavior, please let me know.
